Outsourcing: Why It’s Smart, Not a Sign of Weakness

Outsourcing

I’m a firm believer in outsourcing. Knowing your strengths and limits is key, and I’m well aware of mine.

Sure, I can paint a bedroom, but will it look as crisp as a professional painter’s work? Probably not.

Can I clean my house? Absolutely. I know I can do just as thorough a job as a maid service. But is that the best use of my time? Definitely not.

If you’re already outsourcing your house cleaning, why not extend that idea to other tasks? Things you can do, but that take up your valuable time.

I think there are a few common reasons that hold people back from outsourcing tasks and projects:

  1. It’s hard to know where to start.Finding someone to handle specific tasks can feel overwhelming. It's easy to locate full-time help like a personal assistant or house manager, but how do you find someone to knock a few tasks off your list every week?

  2. Our culture glorifies busyness. We wear stress and juggling 50 things at once like a badge of honor. If we have any free time, we fill it with more work. Outsourcing is often seen as a sign of inefficiency, like you’re not capable of handling it all. But is running yourself ragged really something to be proud of?

  3. Fear of losing control.Handing over tasks can be scary. What if they don’t do it right? Or what if they do it too well, making you feel inadequate? It’s understandable—giving up control isn’t easy.

At Girl Friday, we get it. These are valid concerns, but we’re here to make outsourcing easy and stress-free. Whether you need help with a one-time project or just a few hours a week, we’re ready to step in. No judgment, no pressure—just support.

And as for that badge of honor that comes from overworking? Let it go. Focus on what truly matters to you, and let us handle the rest. We’ve seen and done it all—no task is too big, small, or complex.
